Join us in commemorating the extraordinary life and achievements of Nelson Mandela, a global icon of justice, equality, and leadership.
On February 11, 1990, Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom after 18 years of imprisonment under South Africa’s oppressive Apartheid regime. This historic moment not only captivated the world but also marked the beginning of the end of segregation in South Africa. Mandela’s unwavering vision and leadership would later see him become the nation’s first Black president, inspiring generations across the globe.
This year, our Nelson Mandela Celebration Dinner marks the 35th anniversary of that pivotal moment in history. We will reflect on his enduring legacy with our speaker Lord Peter Hain, who was the leading campaigner against sporting tours in South Africa and an anti-apartheid leader. Lord Hain was also Secretary of State in various roles in Labour Governments from 2005-2010, as well as Chair of the Young Liberals in 1971-3.
The evening will feature:
• A 3-course South African-inspired menu
