The Women's Network invites you to join barrister and historian Harry Potter who will explore the history of capital punishment - its use and (thankfully) abolition for criminal offenses in 1965, and then total abolition in in 1989. Significant cases in the journey to abolition include Derek Bentley, hanged for the killing of a policeman when he didn't shoot the gun, and the last woman to be hanged, Ruth Ellis, who shot her lover outside a public house in Hampstead. Later you can join Harry in the Dining Room for a superb dinner and a drink where you can explore the subject further, or simply talk about other, more joyful events in life.
T
he talk is free to attend and we should be grateful if you would reserve your place in advance,
Following the talk a
n optional 2 course Dinner is available in the Dining Room@ £48.00 per person and must be booked in advance via the website
Reservations are allowed from 05/09/2024 12:00 AM to 10/02/2025 11:55 PM.
